Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Garry J. Broussard, 76, who passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at his home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Garry was born in St. Martinville to the late Dennis and Alicia Blanchard Broussard. He started working at the age of 15 with his father on the crew boats. By the age of 22 he became Boat Captain and retired at the age of 67. Garry enjoyed hunting in Mississippi with Mike and going down river with Timmy. His passion was knife making. He was truly a craftsman and a "Jack-of-all-trades". Garry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 56 years, Helen Lormand Broussard; sons, Jason Broussard, Timmy Broussard and wife Arianna, and Jonathan Broussard and wife Kimberly; daughters, Stacy Broussard and Christine B. Doucet and husband Michael; brother, Jerry Conrad; grandchildren, Haillie, Tyler, Brandi, Hunter, Hope, Holden, Hayden, Benjamin, Rachel, Alex, Jesse, Jude, Camille, Evelyn, Presli, and Blaine; and his great grandchildren, Emarie, Avery, Aiden, Joseph, Esme, Kruz, and Eleanor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Alicia Blanchard Broussard; brothers, Murphy, Willis, Claude, Larry, and Jacob Broussard; and sisters, Rita Melancon and Denise Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be Jason Broussard, Timmy Broussard, Jonathan Broussard, Michael Doucet, Tyler Doucet, and Blaine Goulas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Holden Broussard and Ben Broussard.
