St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Gaston Louis Dautreuil, Jr., 79, who passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Marcel Bulliard.
Gaston was born on May 29, 1930 in the town of St. Martinville, LA, to Yvonne Bienvenu and Gaston Dautreuil, Sr. He graduated from high school and later went on to serve in the Air Force from 1947 - 1948. He later joined the United States Marine Corps in 1949, where a portion of his time was spent serving during the Korean Conflict. Gaston returned to his hometown of St. Martinville to marry the love of his life, Anita Randazzo, on May 2, 1954.
Gaston worked many years as a self-employed electrical contractor for Shamrock Line Construction, a company which he owned and operated. He was also a founding member of the Board of Directors for Teche Bank & Trust, and served as a St. Martinville City Councilman for 8 years.
He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and took pleasure in the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time at the camp with friends, and spending time with his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; his daughters, Lisa Prados and her husband, John, Renee Laviolette and her husband, Stephen, and Dionne Dautreuil; 5 grandchildren, Leah Pratt, Rusty Laviolette, Carmen Lemoine, Jesse Prados, and Sarah Dautreuil; two great grandchildren, Peyton Laviolette and Jackson Pratt; and his sisters, Jean Broussard, Ruth Boudreaux, and Adelia Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gaston Guy Louis Dautreuil, III; and his sisters, Theresa Formeller and Rita May Bulliard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. on Monday and continue until 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Laviolette, Steve Laviolette, Jesse Prados, John Prados, Thomas Lemoine, and David Pratt, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Randazzo, Charlie Latiolais, Larry Degeyter, Mike Formeller, Marcel Bulliard, Allie Dupuis, and Jeff Prados.
