Loreauville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville for Genevieve Oubre Crochet, 92, who passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017, in Abbeville.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Rev. Godwin Nzeh will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
A native of Loreauville, Mrs. Crochet was born on January 4, 1925 to the late Sidney Oubre, Sr. and Corinne Dugas Oubre. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Lydia Homemakers, and was a volunteer at the St. Francis Diner. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Crochet enjoyed dancing, sewing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Ernest "Sonny" Crochet, Jr. and wife Stella Viator Crochet of New Iberia, Rachel Inzerella and husband Greg of New Iberia, Patty Desormeaux and husband Bill of New Iberia, Mandy Glaubrecht and husband George of New Iberia, Angie Crochet and fiance' Stephen Didier of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Danna Crochet of Luling; grandchildren, Keith Crochet and wife Vickie, Chad Crochet and wife Susan, Michelle Keenan and husband Terry, Jed Inzerella and wife Anna Claire, Beau Desormeaux and wife Mandy, Michael Desormeaux and wife Lindsey, Matthew Desormeaux and wife Katherine, Lili LeBlanc and husband Ben, Lauren Greber and husband Eric, Ellen Glaubrecht, Valeri LaCroix and fiance' Butch Bergeron, Lisa Gonzales and husband Kenny, Ashley Baldwin and husband Mark; 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest "Beb" Crochet, Sr.; sons, Lynn Crochet, and Keith Crochet; brothers, Doris Oubre, Ivy Oubre, Sidney "Jay" Oubre, Jr., and Harold Oubre.
Pallbearers will be Keith Crochet, Chad Crochet, Jed Inzerella, Beau Desormeaux, Michael Desormeaux, and Matthew Desormeaux.
