Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2006, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Genevieve Melancon Guidry, 87, who died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab in Breaux Bridge. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Genevieve's favorite past time was playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her son, Thomas P. Guidry and his wife, Patricia of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Thomas Guidry, Jr., Robert Guidry, Katherine Guidry and Naanie Guidry Daigle; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Guidry; her parents, Martha H. and Cesaire Melancon; four sisters, Nola Daigle, Viola Gravoilla, Cora Lee Graviolla, and Anna Lou Broussard; and three brothers, Clovis and Sidney Melancon and an infant brother. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Pallbearers will be Thomas Paul Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Robert Guidry, Robert Guidry, Jr., Dustin Guidry, Malcolm Daigle and Jessie Daigle. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at St. Martin Hospital, St. Agnes Nursing Home, Dr. Degeyter, Wendy, and Hospice of Acadiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
