Genevieve C. "Jan" Thibodeaux was born on April 18, 1940, to Jules Castille and Lona Guillory Castille. Genevieve was the second child. She attended Carver High School. She was blessed with 5 children that filled her house with love and togetherness. She was a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge. Jan absolutely loved her faith and was very devoted to her Rosary. She enjoyed a parishioner at St. Francis and enjoying Saturday night bingo after Mass. Her vibrant personality attracted many friends throughout her life. She had a natural ability to make those around her feel seen and heard. Known for her quick wit and infectious laughter, Genevieve brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She cherished her friendships deeply, nurturing them with love and loyalty. Jan "as she was affectionally called" enjoyed sitting on the porch waving at everybody and having long conversations with passersby. She cooked the best food and was always offering a plate to go. Her crawfish etouffee for the festivals was the best along with her rice dressing, potato salad, and not to mention her praline candies! Maw Maw Jan's house was the place to be for the holidays. She loved going out and Zydeco dancing.
Genevieve also worked as a cafeteria worker to provide for her family. She was employed by St. Martin Parish School Board as a cook for 20-plus years. We are forever grateful to Belinda and Sidney for your love and dedicated duties. You have looked after Jan with grace and care. May you always be blessed.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and memories a beautiful family. She is survived by her children, Belinda P. Roberts (Paul), Sidney Perrodin (Mary), Lloyd Perrodin, Jr., Clifford Perrodin (Paula) and Jules Perrodin (Charlotte); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one sister, Lula Roquemore (Tommy).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thibodeaux; parents, Jules and Lorna Guillory Castille.
Pallbearers will be Jules Perrodin, Paul Roberts, Jr., Ted Roquemore, Steven Roquemore, Raymond Roquemore, and Rodney Dugas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sidney Perrodin, Lloyd Perrodin, Jr., Clifford Perrodin, and Wilton Demouchet.
Genevieve, we are grateful for the love and joy you brought into our lives. The impact you made on this world is immeasurable, and your light will continue to shine brightly through those who were fortunate enough to know you. May you rest in eternal peace, knowing that your legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.
The family extends profound and heartfelt gratitude for expressions of love and thoughtfulness and more importantly your prayers. We especially thank Fr. Garrett McIntyre who was able to anoint Genevieve in order to prepare her soul. We are grateful to the staff at Hospice for their loving concern and care during this time.
