Genevieve Olivier Melancon

St. Martinville - A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Genevieve Olivier Melancon, 83, who passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 2:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday and continue Monday at 7:00 am until 11:00 am. A rosary will be prayed by Barbara Romero and Margaret DeBlanc at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Ceremony. Scriptures will be read by Barbara Romero. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Genevieve was a caregiver and loved caring for the elderly. She enjoyed working with flowers, going to the casino, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Jules Melancon and companion, Mary Thibodeaux, Ricky Melancon, and Larry James Melancon and wife Pam; daughters, Melba Decoux and husband Randy, Geraldine Guidry and husband Leland, and Florine Izquierdo and husband Chico; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Pierre Melancon; parents, Pierre and Azile LaGrange Olivier; and sisters, Alma Guidry and Laura Benoit. Pallbearers will be Ricky Melancon, Larry James Melancon, Jerry Guidry, Brian Melancon, Pierre Melancon, and Mario Castaneda. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Guidry, Jr., Jules Melancon, Jonathan Izquierdo, Gavin Broussard, and Chance Melancon. The family would like to give special thanks to family and friends, Tommy and Barbara Romero, Mary Ann and Mario, St. Martin Hospital, Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, and Compassus Hospice for all the love and care given to Genevieve in her time of need.
