Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 23, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia in Cecilia for George Paul Allemand, 76, who passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Service. Readers will be Lorraine Girouard and James Gains. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Allemand was a Boat Captain for 35 years. He enjoyed going on camping trips with his wife, and telling stories about his life to his friends. He was a faithful Catholic who would wake up every morning to watch the rosary on T.V. George loved drinking coffee and eating his favorite banana cake and peanut butter cookies made by Lorraine Girouard. He will be remembered for being strong and courageous. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Verna Duval Allemand; aunts, Nellie Trahan and husband Paul of Port Arthur, TX, and Ruth Mouton of Lafayette; uncle, Wiley Mouton and wife Betty of Lafayette; half sisters, Barbara Chassion and husband Olide of Carencro, and Cindy LeBlanc and husband Danny of Carencro; his dear friend, Randy Jett; and his fur baby, CeCe. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Allemand; mother, Della Mouton Bourque; and his uncle, Maxie Mouton. Pallbearers will be Randy Jett, Bert Girouard, Calvin Begnaud, Clarence "Pop" Patin, Ernest Duval, and Leonard Duval Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacques Soileau and Ernest Duval, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia, 2238 Bushville Hwy., Cecilia, LA 70521, (337-667-6464) is in charge of arrangements.
