George B. Degeyter

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 12 noon ?Monday, October 15, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for George B. Degeyter, 82, who passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Fr. Ed Degeyter will conduct the services. Readers will be Dwayne Degeyter and Ryan Wisdom. ?All his grandchildren will serve as gift bearers. Mr. Degeyter enjoyed gardening, carpentry, reading his paper in the morning and most of all - spending time with his wife of 50 years, Odile, his children and grandchildren. ??He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the Navy. He was also a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Odile Olivier Degeyter of Ruth; his sons, Carrol Degeyter and his wife Pat of Oberlin, LA, Daniel Degeyter and his wife Susan of Tioga, LA and George E. Degeyter and his wife Loretta of Ruth; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Ryan Wisdom, Dwayne Degeyter, Paul Degeyter, Michelle and Chris Boyer, Johanna and Steve Brandsma, Valerie Degeyter, Stephanie Degeyter, Jacqueline Fett and James Fett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddy and Eula Castille Degeyter; his brothers, Nicholas and Ralph Degeyter and his sister, Beatrice Reed. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 am ~ 10:00 pm Sunday, October 14, 2007 and continue at 7:00 am, Monday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Sunday. Pallbearers will be Kyle Guillory, Steve Brandsma, Dwayne Degeyter, Ryan Wisdom, Paul Degeyter and Chris Boyer. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
