New Iberia Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for George Junis Leger, 71, who died on Friday, September 5, 2014 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery, in Jeanerette. Rev. Aaron Weido will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Mr. Leger was born on May 18, 1943 to Simon and Lena Perez Leger. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy, and was retired from Angelle Concrete. His hobbies included fishing, repairing things, and watching western movies. Survivors include his wife, Cathy Picard Leger of New Iberia; children, Mindy Belaire and husband Chad of Iberia Parish, Dalton Simon Martinez of New Iberia, Eva Thibodeaux of Iberia Parish, Kayla Leger of New Iberia, Hailey Leger of New Iberia, Michael Leger of Orange, Texas, Brenda Speer and husband Scott of California; sister, Joyrita Broussard of Patterson; 8 grandchildren, and one due to arrive in March.
