New Iberia ;- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for George Loflin, 68, who passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at his residence. ; Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant with Rev. Kurian Kanat as the Con- Celebrant. Readers will be Martha LeBlanc and Millie Bourgeois. Gift Bearers include Martha Bourgeois and Peggy Tauzin. ; Born on December 19, 1939 in Winnsboro, LA, George is the son of the late Hansford Herbert Loflin and Ruby Iverson Loflin. George earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University and retired from Texaco after 33 years of service. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a member of the St. Nicholas Social Justice and Concern Group. ; Survivors include his wife Kathryn Bourgeois Loflin of New Iberia; his son, Michael Edward Loflin of San Antonio, TX; his daughters, Mary Loflin Rodriguez of Dallas, TX and Susan Loflin Sanchez and husband Steve of San Antonio, TX; grandsons, Cameron Stephen Rodriguez and Jonathan David Rodriguez. ; Pallbearers will be Robert Bourgeois, Edward Bourgeois, Lawrence Bourgeois, Darryl Romero, Donnie Boutwell and Creed Dugas. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. ; The family acknowledges and extends their appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana, especially Iggy Landry, for their care and compassion that was given to George and his family during his illness.
