St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for George Joseph Mallery, Jr., 90, who passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
George was a longtime member of the Good Will Society and Notre Dame Usher Society. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather. George will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Telbia Mallery, Sr. of St. Martinville; his grandchildren, Ena Cavins (Anthony) of Lexington, KY, Larissa Mallery of New Orleans, Eneus Payne of Parks, Shelbia Mallery, and Telbia Mallery, Jr. of New Iberia; sisters, Augustine Morris, Lillie Mae Martin, Antoinette Francis, Mary Ann Wiltz (Joseph), all of St. Martinville, and Rita Mae Batiste of New Orleans; brother, Zervin Mallery of Lafayette. He also leaves behind his special companion, Della Mae James of St. Martinville; a host of nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Warren "Boo" Etienne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Mallery, Sr. and Ophelia Dauphine Mallery; his wife, Mary Alice Menard Mallery; daughter, Charlotte Payne; granddaughter, Sherrel Phillips; sisters, Mary Lou Wiltz, Rosa Mae Francis, Florena James, Melvina Wiltz, and Flora Bell Pierre; and his brother, Warren Mallery, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Sterling Francis, Eneus Payne, Shelbia Mallery, John Richard, Lionel Morris, and Joseph Wiltz, Jr.
