St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for George Joseph Martin, 59, who passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Keyera Martin. The obituary reader will Kayla Martin. Gift bearers will Kayla Martin, Kadejah Jones, and George Celestine. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Saint Martinville. Mr. Martin was a member of the Good Will Society. He enjoyed cooking, especially for family BBQs, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Fanny Alexander of Breaux Bridge and Janice Jones of New Iberia; son, George Paul Jones and wife Dailey of St. Martinville; mother, Lillie Mae Martin of St. Martinville; brother, Lester Martin and wife Shantelle of St. Martinville; sisters, Dorothy Davis and husband Santry of Lafayette and Shirley Lee and husband Willie of St. Martinville; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Martin, Sr.; his brother, Lawrence Martin, Jr.; and a sister, Lillie Marie Martin. Pallbearers will be Sterling Francis, Kelly Morris, Corderrol Morris, Lee Steven Jr., James Morris, and Lionel Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Martin, Lester Martin, Kevin Martin, Amos Lindon, Santry Davis, Willie Lee, Ronnie Francis, and Brandon Martin.
