St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for George Thaddeus Barras, Sr., 59, who passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until time of service on Saturday, August 21, 2021.Deacon David Chambers will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.George Barras was one of the most giving, loving, well-known, hardest worker, courteous, and courageous man, that you’d ever meet. He was an entrepreneur and a jack-of-all-trades, with a great personality – he would give his last dime to help anyone in need. He is survived by his daughter, Iesha Barras of Opelousas; son, George T Barras, Jr of St. Martinville.; sister, Cheryl Barras Savoy (Rodney) of Lafayette; five brothers, Ronald B. Barras Sr. (Rose) of Killeen, TX, Wendell R. Barras Sr. (Marlene) of Houston, TX, James D. Barras (Donna) of Atlanta, GA, Gerald T. Barras, Sr. of St. Martinville and Daniel James of Atlanta, GA.He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Barras; parents John Barras, Sr. and Irene Patt Barras; three brothers, Horace Barras, John Paul Barras, III, and Donald Barras; and his sister, Sandra Barras James.
