Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday, January 23, 2009, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Gerald Joseph "Jay" Babineaux, 73, who died on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson.
Fr. Keith Landry will officiate at the funeral Mass. The reader will be Calvin Boudreaux and gift bearers will be Hope Dias and Judy LeGrand.
Jay was married to the love of his live Annette Babineaux for 52 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved being outdoors and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Guidry Babineaux, of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Peggy Boudreaux and her husband, Calvin, of Breaux Bridge; his mother Oline Landry Babineaux, of Breaux Bridge; a brother, Billy Babineaux and his wife, Rita, of Breaux Bridge; his brother-in-law, Nathan Trosclair, of Breaux Bridge; and one grandson, Travis Boudreaux and his wife, Laurie, of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lucuis Babineaux; a sister, Gloria Trosclair; and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Boudreaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Travis Boudreaux, Dwight LeGrand, Perry Belaire, Clint Guidry, Rusty Babineaux, and Nathan Trosclair.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Babineaux, Ronald Campbell, Ken Guidry, Cecil LeGrand, Dwayne LeGrand, Roy Guidry, Kenneth Belaire, and Shawn Belaire.
