Gerald 'Beb' Guidry

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Gerald Guidry, 83, who passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at St. Martin Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Gerald started driving a school bus when he was 17 years old and continued until his retirement. He loved gardening, dancing to Zydeco music and tending to his animals. In his lifetime he has witnessed many girls and boys become young men and women who would ride his bus on a daily basis. He will be remembered for the compassion and kindness that he had for children, his family and those who crossed his path. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Chautin and husband Ricky of Cecilia; son, Dane Guidry and wife Stacey of Cecilia; sister, Joyce Angelle of Cecilia; grandchildren, Chelsy Taylor and spouse Justin of Cecilia, Jantz Chautin of Cecilia; and his great-grandchildren, Liam Taylor and Lila Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherline Guidry; his father, Antoine Guidry; mother, Leonie Calais Guidry; and his brothers, Marshall, Malcolm and Curtis Guidry. Pallbearers will be Lisa Chautin, Dane Guidry, Chelsy Taylor, Jantz Chautin, Stacey Guidry and Ricky Chautin. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Taylor.
