Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, September 28, 2018, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula for Gerald Olivier, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall from 11:30 am until 10:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
Rev. Richard Fabre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Gwyn Berard and Tara Serrette. Gift bearers will be Lauren and Brooke Olivier.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Gerald honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and hunting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His family meant everything to him and he would help anyone that needed. Gerald and his wife, Pat, cherished their time together and would occasionally go to the casino when they had time. His loving and caring personality will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia "Pat" Dugas Olivier; son, Troy Olivier and wife Karin; daughter, Sherrie Olivier Resweber and husband Paul, Jr.; brother, Newell Olivier and wife Melinda; sister-in-law, Livia Olivier; grandchildren, Heather Resweber Borges and spouse Ryan, Candice Resweber and companion, Trayton DeRouen, Braxton Resweber, Lauren Olivier, and Brooke Olivier; and great grandchildren, Anniston Borges, Emma DeRouen, Luke Borges, and Tanner DeRouen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre "P.D." and Pearly LeBlanc Olivier; brothers, Richard Olivier, Warren Olivier, and Sherman Olivier; in-laws, Dalton and Rena Lasseigne Dugas; brother-in-law, Allen Dugas; sister-in-law, Geraldine Dugas; nephews, Allen "Lil Al" Duags Jr. and Ritchie Olivier; and nieces, Tina Tauzin and Dina Talley.
Pallbearers will be Braxton Resweber, Randall "Salt" Olivier, Ryan Borges, Rusty Olivier, Trayton DeRouen, and Mark Simoneaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Troy Olivier, Newell Olivier, Paul Resweber Jr., Dwarren Olivier, Paul "Bully" Resweber, and Tommy Chreene.
