Gerald James Touchet, Sr. was born on November 11, 1950, to the late Euel and Eula Blanchard Touchet. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, which helped shape his character and his sense of responsibility. Gerald had a fulfilling career as a hotshot driver and retired from Acme Transportation.
Gerald found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his love of the casino, where he would often be found reveling in the excitement of the games. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed the tranquility of fishing. In the heart of his home, he embraced the joy of cooking—though, as he often teased, he loved eating even more. He often sported his signature look of a button-down shirt with his phone nestled in his pocket and could always be found with coffee or a Coke in his hand.
Above all else, Gerald cherished time spent with his family. He was a kind and loving presence, always ready with a smile or a helping hand. His School Days Apartment family were close to Gerald’s heart; he often helped them by shuttling them to the grocery store or doctors’ appointments or moving things up or downstairs for them. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Touchet is survived by five children, Catina Touchet (Brent), Kristy Touchet, Crissy Wesley (Roman), Seth Touchet (Crystal), and Gerald Touchet, Jr. (Debbie); a sister, Judy Touchet; grandchildren, Cameron and Kelsey Falgout, Alexia, Alayah, Aaliyah, and Alivia Wesley, Kylie and Kaitlyn Touchet, and Natalie Walker; godfather/uncle, Wilfred “Brud” Touchet (Lelies); and numerous nieces and nephews, including Amy Bourque and Kelly Breaux, who where like daughters to Gerald.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca Touchet; son, Ryan Touchet; and sister, Mary Ann Touchet.
Pallbearers will be Seth Touchet, Gerald Touchet, Jr., Brent Romero, Cameron Falgout, Roman Wesley, and Christopher Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Alayah and Alivia Welsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help offset expenses.
Gerald was a hard worker with a gentle spirit, touching countless lives along the way. May he rest in peace.
