Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, December 28, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Gerald J. Usie, 70, who passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Pastor Glenn J. Durcharme and Pastor Francis J. Durcharme will conduct the service.
Gerald enjoyed playing the drums with a French band known as, "The Harold Trahan Band", he also loved to dance, dress up as Santa Clause, and go to local nursing homes to entertain the elderly. While he was an avid fan of the Bridge Ball Team, he also volunteered to many personal families that were in need. Gerald enjoyed fishing, and was known to his family as a number 1 Crawfisherman. He was a man who never met a stranger, and truly had a great sense of humor that would make you laugh until you cried.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and especially his wife and dance partner, Eulah, who he was married to for 38 wonderful years.
Survivors include his wife, Eulah Mae Guidry Usie of Breaux Bridge; his father, Weston J. Usie of Breaux Bridge; his step sons, Glenn J. Durcharme and wife, Diane of Reeves, and Francis J. Durcharme and wife, Loretta of Duson; his brothers, Mike Usie and wife, Renee, and Jimmy Usie and wife, Carla, all of Breaux Bridge; his sisters, Patricia Angelle and Shelia Belaire, both of Breaux Bridge; his step grandchildren, Andrew, Taylor, Katrina, Kimberly and Kevin; and his 6 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Dore Usie; his brother, Gary Usie; and his sister, Emily Usie.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009 and continue at 7:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Mike Usie, Jimmy Usie, Gary Jules Usie, Andrew Ducharme, Kenneth Haynes and C. J. Thibodeaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
