Geraldine “Gerry” Theresa Broussard Romero was born on April 6, 1949, to the late Clarence and Inez Lasseigne Broussard. Gerry was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose spirit radiated warmth and joy to everyone she encountered.
Gerry was a talented hairdresser, cherished by many for her skill and kindness. In her younger years, she ran a beauty shop in her backyard—a cozy haven where friends would gather, sharing laughter and stories over cups of coffee while getting their hair done. In later years, she continued sharing her talents with family and friends while socializing at home.
Gerry spent countless hours at Taunt Na Na's Flea Market, lending her support to Tonya and Todd, becoming a beloved fixture there; in the eyes of many, she embodied the spirit of Taunt Na Na herself.
Gerry’s pride and joy were her five granddaughters, who were the very essence of her world. She was the unwavering rock of her family, pouring her love and devotion into each of them. With a humble and selfless nature, she always placed others before herself, exuding a rare generosity that touched the lives of many.
A devout Catholic, Gerry was a longtime member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church and recently joined Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where her spirit of kindness and devotion will be deeply missed.
Gerry found joy in family trips, especially to the beach and to New Orleans. She and Kenneth loved Zydeco dancing, and taking trips to the casino to try their luck. She also enjoyed flower gardening and tending to her yard. She will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Romero is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kenneth Romero; two children, Tonya Romero (Todd Badeaux), and Shawn Romero (Paige); five granddaughters who were the loves of her life, Amber Latiolais, Andrea Thigpen (Adam Mader), Angelle Thigpen, Alyssa Romero (Randy Glancey), and Madelyn Romero; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Kate Glancey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Ann Hebert, John Kelly, Oran and Larry Broussard, and Mitchell Jacquemoud.
Pallbearers will be Todd Badeaux, Adam Mader, Keith Romero, Chad Martin, Randy Glancey, and Mike Colomb.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Broussard and Adam Jumonville.
Gerry will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her. May she rest in peace.
