BreauxBridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., on Monday, June 25, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Germaine Cormier Brasseaux, 90, who passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continue on Monday at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Fr. Donald Pousson will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Diona Berard and Jennifer Latiolais. Gift Bearers will be Nanette Barker, Chastity B. Thompson, and Andra Huval. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Mrs. Brasseaux was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was a founding member of the Widows of the Teche. She loved to go bowling, dancing, and traveling with her Widows of the Teche friends. Germaine loved spending time outdoors working in her flower beds. She most especially loved spending time with her family during events and holidays and greatly cherished the time she spent with her grandkids.
Survivors include two daughters, Millie Huval and husband, Richard, and Barbara Berard and husband, Jerry 'Doggay,' all of Breaux Bridge; four brothers, James Cormier of Orange, TX, Emile Cormier, Simon Cormier, and Ernest Cormier, all of Breaux Bridge; one sister, Inez Patin of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, Craig, Chris, Jennifer, Andra, Kevin, Jerry, Nanette, Diona, Chastity, Jonah, and Jonathan; 11 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horance Brasseaux; and her parents, Gerard and Margarite Belaire Cormier; her son, Gary Brasseaux; and a brother, Jerome Cormier.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Barker, Jerry Barker, Chris Latiolais, Chance Latiolais, Jonah Brasseaux, and Jonathan Brasseaux.
Honorary pallbearer will be Craig Latiolais.
