St. Martinville A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Gertie Mae Narcisse, 91, who passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at River Oaks Retirement Manor. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Wednesday. Rev. Augustinus Seran SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reading the scriptures will be Brianna Francis and Jada Wiggins. Gift Bearers will be Nina Gumbs, Karmen Williams, Laila Pratt and Kendrick Clary. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. In the early 70s, Gertie was a troop leader of the Girl Scouts Troop #165 and has since been made an honorable member of the Bayou Girl Scout Council. She served as captain of the neighborhood rosary group, was a member of the Legion of Mary and Notre Dame Alter Ladies. She was the former secretary of the Goodwill Society. She is also the recipient of the Martin Luther King Award. She was a faithful worker of the Notre Dame Church Fair and retired from serving as Eucharistic minister. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Sterling Narcisse of St. Martinville; her daughters, Stella (Dr. Wilfred) Boayue of Roswell, GA, Veronica (Lawrence) Williams of St. Martinville and Jocelyn (Hilery) Louviere of Lafayette, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Stella Davis Mano; her sisters, Ethel Thomas, Margaret Washington, Josephine Mano and Modella Laurieu; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews as well as many friends. Pallbearers will be Barry Williams, Nathaniel Louviere, Kaymen Williams, Wilfred Boayue, Paul Boayue and Cyrus Mano. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
