Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday, October 21, 2011, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Gertie Ann Brasseaux Patin, 68, who passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Tyra Patin and Rita LeBlanc. Gift Bearers will be her grandchildren. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson. Gertie enjoyed going dancing and camping with family and friends. She loved to cook and looked forward to the many times that she could take care of her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Gertie loved having family gatherings, most especially at Halloween when she would prepare her gumbo for her family and guests to enjoy and she loved passing out treats that brought smiles to the faces of all the children who came by her home to Trick-or-Treat. Survivors include her husband, Nathan Patin of Henderson; two sons, Randy Patin and his wife, Rachel, of Breaux Bridge, and Ted Patin and his wife, Marie, of Henderson; two sisters, Edith Robin of Henderson, and Rita LeBlanc and her husband, Alfred, of Parks; six grandchildren, Chad, Colt, Tyson, Tyra, Renee, and Terance; and nine great grandchildren, Amelia, Heath, Hayden, Cohen, Cooper, Myla, Aeyon, Riley, and Macy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anita Wiltz Brasseaux; her son, Gary Patin; her brother, Norris Brasseaux; and two sisters, Marie B. Louviere and Thelma B. Chesson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Randy, Chad, Colt, Ted, Tyson, and Terance Patin. Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.
