St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Gertie Robertson, 85, who passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until funeral service at 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Readers will be Nessia M. Adams, Ebony Sias, and Desire Robertson.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Gertie was born in Lafayette, LA to the late Gustave and Antonia Wiltz. She was a faithful member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Gertie loved playing bingo, going to the casino, and talking on the phone. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. Gertie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Rena Washington (Calvin), Debra Mitchell (Duplantis), Mary Della Robertson (Wesley), and Jacqueline Theresa Robertson (Bernard); sons, Curtis Robertson (Joycelyn), and Joseph Paul Robertson (Sherry); 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and her step son, Ron George.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philbert Joseph Robertson, Sr.; sons, Kenneth Robertson, Chris Robertson, Sr., and Philbert Robertson; daughter-in-law, Rita Robertson; brothers, Wallace, Wesley, and Walter Wiltz; and her sisters, Beatrice Mason, Rena Thibodeaux, Fabiola Wiltz, Agnes Stewart and Mazel Benjamin; and her grandson, Jamaal Peter Fontenette, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Robertson, Joseph Paul Robertson, Ron George, Henry Mitchell, Calvin Washington, Patrick Marks Jr., Hubie Johnson III, and Troy Green.
Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Robertson Jr.
