Marksville, LA ~ Funeral services for Gertrude Theresa Haydel Roy will be at 11:00 am, Monday, May 17, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marksville with Fr. Rusty Rabalais officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 2 under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home - Marksville from 4 pm - 8 pm with a Christian Wake Service at 7 pm and Monday, May 17, 2010 from 8 am - 10:30 am. Mrs. Roy, age 90, of Marksville and a native of Avoyelles Parish, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Cornerstone South, Lafayette surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Gert graduated from Moreauville High School and attended LSU. She married Marion Peter Roy and resided in Marksville where she was active with her family and the community. She was a member of the Marksville Garden Club, La Commission des Avoyelles and the Landscaper Club. She was an avid Bridge player and a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Peter Roy; her parents, Hunter and Aimee Bordelon Haydel; her sister, Hilda Scott and brothers, Garner Haydel, Richard Haydel and Hubert Haydel. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Curtis H. Roy and Sharon K. Moss of Lafayette and Marion Peter Roy, Jr. and wife, Jamie, of New Orleans; four daughters, Melanie R. Yarbrough and husband, Dr. Conway Yarbrough, of Breaux Bridge, Mary Jane R. Johnson and husband, Sidney, of Tallulah, Amy R Gros and husband, Craig, of LaPlace and Lisa R. Billodeau and husband, David, of Lake Charles; one brother, Rudy Haydel of Marksville; sixteen grandchildren, Hunter Roy ,Ainsley Gordon, Scott Yarbrough, Kelly Schoeffler, Dr. Lee Yarbrough, Rachel Golden, Laura Falgout, Brian Johnson, Amy Chappuis, Courtney Gros, Adam Gros, Heidi Billodeau, Michelle Billodeau, Roy Billodeau, Marion Peter Roy, III and Alex Roy and eighteen great grandchildren.
