Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Gilbert Louis Benoit, 66, who passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday and continue at 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday.Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reading the scriptures for the service will be Belinda Berard. Gift bearers will be his grandchildren, Austin, Carson and Quinn Benoit. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Benoit honorably served his country in the US Army. He worked several years for Patterson International Hammers before his disability. He is survived by his son, Chad Benoit and his wife, April Indest Benoit, his grandchildren, Austin, Carson and Quinn Benoit, his nephew, Joshua Benoit, and his niece, Abby Benoit. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Blanchard Benoit, his parents, Joswill Benoit and Beatrice Scrantz Benoit, his brother, Cecil Benoit and his nephews, Seale Benoit and David Benoit. Pallbearers will be Ron Wiltz, Russ Kees, Joey Benoit, Chris Phillips, Josh Benoit, Mark Leger and Rex Berard. Honorary pallbearers will be Abby Benoit, Belinda Berard and Mona Benoit. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for the care and compassion given to Mr. Gilbert.
