New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Gilbert Joseph Whittle, 75, who died Friday, April 20, 2012 in New Iberia . Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jude Thierry will be the Celebrant. Frank Whittle and Lisa Whittle will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Lindsay LeBlanc and Lacie Esteve. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM . Born on October 3, 1936 in Delcambre, Mr. Whittle retired from ODECO Drilling after 36 years of service. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and raising rabbits and chickens. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alberta Delahoussaye Whittle of New Iberia; daughters, Jacqualine Arnaud and husband Willie, Charlotte Esteve and husband Sonny, Tracy Whittle and friend Mike McNemar all of New Iberia; brother, Frank 'Red' Whittle of Lafayette; half sister, Gracie Migues of Madison, TN; 5 grandchildren, Heather White, Jeremy LeBlanc, Lindsay LeBlanc, Trae Esteve, and Lacie Esteve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert George Whittle and Editha Galtier Whittle; brother, Johnny Whittle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Gladys Delahoussaye. Pallbearers will be Jeremy LeBlanc, Trae Esteve, Frank Whittle, Ray Sonnier, Chuck Delahoussaye, Irby Delahoussaye, Sonny Esteve, and David Whittle.
