Gladys Delahoussaye

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Gladys Gerard Delahoussaye, 90 who died Monday, August 9, 2010 in New Iberia . Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.Gursey Delahoussaye and Tracy Spell will proclaim the readings. Gift Bearers include Lindsay LeBlanc and Lacie Esteve. Born on April 6, 1920 in Youngsville, Mrs. Delahoussaye was a member of the St. Annes Altar Society, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was deeply devoted to her faith. A member of RSVP, she volunteered at Iberia Medical Center and also at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home. Mrs. Delahoussaye enjoyed sewing and crafts. Survivors include her daughter, Alberta Whittle and husband Gilbert of New Iberia; son, Irby John Delahoussaye and wife Elizabeth of Marrero; sister, Adia Romero of Erath; 12 grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 13 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Delahoussaye; parents, Surville and Olivia Hebert Gerard; sisters, Ann Romero, Elite Frederick, Celia Trahan; brothers, Rene Gerard, and Antime Gerard. Pallbearers will be Irby Delahoussaye, Chuck Delahoussaye, Kirby Delahoussaye, Willie Arnaud, Arthur 'Sonny' Esteve, Jr., Glenn Delahoussaye, and Allen 'Bubba' Gonsuron. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary, led by Gursey Delahoussaye and Gail Romero, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM .
