Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, May 15, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Gloria Marie Pellerin Berard, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Gloria enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and always looked forward to cooking Sunday dinners for them. She loved playing Pokeno and Bingo with her many friends.
Survivors include her companion of 25 years, Walter Courville, of Arnaudville; six sons, Overn "Cha" Berard and his wife, Gwyn, Al "Al J" Berard and his wife, Lee Anna, David "Backtrack" Berard and his wife, Cathy, Timothy "Tim" Berard and his wife, Paula, all of Breaux Bridge, Daniel "Big Dog" Berard and his wife, Charie, of Columbia, MS, and Carl "CC" Berard and his wife, Kayla, of Catahoula; six daughters, Dianne Usie and her husband, Kenneth, of Henderson, Yvonne Landry and her husband, Larry, of Cecilia, Cynthia "Nanette" Courville and her husband, Ronnie, of Henderson, Lisa Stelly and her husband, Roger, Michelle Dupuy and her husband, Pierre, and Laura "Lori" Bergeron, all of Breaux Bridge; three brothers, Richard Pellerin, of New Iberia, Jerry Pellerin and his wife, Janell, of St. Martinville, and Carol Pellerin, of Oregon; two sisters, Ione Horn, of San Antonio, TX, and Ethel Lasseigne and her husband, Las, of St. Martinville; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Berard, of Cecilia; 29 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Cazan" Berard; a son, Clarence "Blue" Berard, Jr.; her parents, Abel and Laura Castille Pellerin; and three brothers, Leston, Gordon, and Herman Pellerin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Honored to serve as her pallbearers, are her six sons, Overn, Al, David, Timothy, Daniel, and Carl Berard.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
