Rynella - A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 15, 2019, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella for Gloria Bourgeois, 90, who passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in New Iberia.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and will continue on Friday from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
A lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Gloria Badeaux Bourgeois was born on October 10, 1928 to the late Pierre Ellis Badeaux and Levie Bernadette Boutte Badeaux. She worked as a candle maker at the Rosary House in New Iberia for many years. Mrs. Bourgeois was a wonderful homemaker, and her family was her life. Her children affectionately called her "Head of the Compound." She loved jigsaw puzzles, being outdoors, cutting grass, and vegetable gardening. She was a skilled seamstress, and made all of the Christening gowns for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, and made many baby blankets over the years. Gloria was a faithful Catholic and a longtime member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Bourgeois is survived by daughters, Linda Lasseigne and husband Ted; Brenda Moreaux and fiancé Billy Thibodeaux; sons, Michael Bourgeois, Sr. and wife Sandy; and Ricky Bourgeois, all of Rynella; a brother, Billy Neil Badeaux and wife Cathy of Delcambre; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Joseph Bourgeois; a son, Daniel Bourgeois, Sr.; brother, Raymond Floyd Badeaux; sisters, Inez Van Duzee and Barbara "Bobbie" Cartimiglia; and a niece, Donna Faye Cartimiglia.
Pallbearers will be Michael Bourgeois Sr., Ricky Bourgeois, Jude Moreaux, Seth Moreaux, Michael Bourgeois Jr., Matthew Bourgeois, Bradley Lasseigne, and Phil Cartimiglia.
Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Bourgeois Jr. and Ethan Bourgeois.
