Gloria "Linda" Gedward, 67, a lifelong resident of St. Martinville, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home with her husband and mother-in-law by her side. Gloria was the eldest daughter from the union of Gloria Porter and Harold Lasseigne born on October 28, 1955, in Lafayette, LA. She attended and was a faithful parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Gloria will always be remembered for the smile on her face. She was such a loving, sweet, and humble person and always in good spirit. She retired from Hilton Hotel after 20 years of service, such a dedicated and hard worker. She traveled often with her husband, daughter, and grandkids whom she loved dearly. She loved dancing, having a great time with family, playing cards, and taking her "little rides" to the casino. Her home was always open to others, and she loved feeding anyone that stopped by. She will be missed greatly by so many.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 49 years, Arthur "Red" Gedward of Saint Martinville; her daughter, LaShonda G. Williams (Jermie) of Addis; son, Deshannon Randall (Jowanna) of Beaumont, TX; seven grandkids Destinee DeRouen, Payton Williams, Margan Williams, Jule Williams, Deshannon Randall, Jr., Deforrest Harris, and Chandler Mogerman; sister, Sandra L. Knatt of St. Martinville; mother-in-law, Elsie Mae Gedward of St. Martinville; uncle, Herman Fontenette of Port Arthur, TX; godchildren, Dexter Ambroise and Kayla Fontenette and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Porter, father, Harold Lasseigne, four brothers, Lloyd Lasseigne, John Alley Lasseigne, Harold Lasseigne, Jr., and Daryl Lasseigne, father-in-law, Arthur "Man" Gedward, Jr., grandson, Danny Paul DeRouen II, and maternal grandparents Alley Porter and Alberta Davis Fontenette, and paternal grandparents Joseph and Catherine Lasseigne.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Flugence, Johnathan Skipper, Lynn Hill, Elston Hill, Dexter Ambroise, and Ken Zeno.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jermie Williams, Nolan Williams, Samuel Geward, Deshannon Randell, Sr., Deshannon Randell, Jr., and Marvin Ambroise, Jr.
