New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia for Gloria LeBlanc Granger, 85, who died Saturday, November 21, 2009 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant. Gift Bearers include Therese Duhon and Claudia Bienvenu. Art Suberbielle will proclaim the readings.
Born on December 23, 1923, Mrs. Granger was very active at St. Peter's Catholic Church. A member of the Catholic Daughters, she also served as a Eucharistic Minister to those that were hospitalized, and was a recipient of the Bishop's Medal.
Mrs. Granger was also a former member of the Homemaker's Club, and the Women's Club, where she served as secretary. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, watching movies, and going to plays.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Alfred Benny Granger, Jr. of New Iberia; son, Edward J. Granger and wife Elizabeth of New Iberia; grandsons, Ben Granger of New Iberia, Lance Corporal John Granger USMC of Yuma, Arizona, Dave Granger of New Iberia; special friend Therese Duhon of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mae Verret LeBlanc; and a sister, Genevieve L. Berard.
Pallbearers include Ben Granger, Lance Corporal John Granger, Dave Granger, Gerard Buster Prados, Wayne Cestia, and Gerard Gondron.
Honorary pallbearers include Cyril Verret, Lynn Ransonet, Harry "Johnny" Jackson, Jr., and Marty LeJeune.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic High School Endowment Fund, 1301 DeLaSalle Drive, New Iberia, LA 70560 or to the St. Edward School Endowment Fund, 175 Porter Street, New Iberia, LA 70560.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM Tuesday.
