Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Gloria Byrd Mouisset, 78, who passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th, doing what she loved best -- traveling. Fr. Donald Pousson will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Gloria is a native of Baton Rouge, born in 1933. She graduated from the Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, LA as a registered nurse in 1955. Shortly after graduation she married Roger Mouisset and has lived the last 58 years in and around Breaux Bridge.Gloria worked for many years as a registered nurse at different hospitals, and worked for several private practice doctors during the span of her career. As a nurse, she was the one that could put patients at ease and give shots without you feeling it. She always had the caring heart and it showed in her day to day work and personal life. In her retirement years she spent time watching movies with the grandkids and great grandkids, which meant you 'had to eat popcorn'. She enjoyed all her routine crafts, but ventured out and explored the world of crafting with quilting, card making, cross stitch, and any other new ideas she came across when shopping. There was always room for one more craft project. At 70+ she was taking computer classes and learning her new iPhone. The only thing she enjoyed more than crafts and learning new things was her love of travel. She went on cruises, and traveled the country visiting family and friends. Very seldom did you ever call her and she was at home. She loved going new places, seeing new things and trying new foods. What a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was our champion, our best friend and a great role model with an enthusiastic spirit for life and an unending caring heart. She leaves to cherish her memory children, Debra Mouisset, Martin and Jennifer Mouisset, Denise and Dwayne Myrick, Donna and Steve Menard, and James and Claudette Mouisset; grandchildren, Larry, Morrison, Regina, Sarah, Martine, Travis, Cody, Victoria, Beau, Giles, and Tyler; and great grandchildren, Jol, Kelsey, Zayne, ;CJ, Blake, Makayla, Gracie, and Kaylee. She is also survived by her step brother, Bob Taylor of Denham Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Mouisset; mother and step father, Blossom and EJ Dean; father, Louis Byrd; brother, Lester Byrd; her only sister whom she loved dearly, Delores Strickland; and one grandchild, Ty Michael Menard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. ~ 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be her two sons, Martin and James Mouisset, Dwayne Myrick, Steve Menard, Bob Mouisset, and Pete Latino.
