St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Gloria S. Williams, 77, who passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at The Carpenter House.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Friday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The reader will be Kimya Cruz. Gift bearers will be Vaeda Derousselle and Kataleya Jacob.
Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Born on December 1, 1947, in Saint Martinville, she dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community. She met the love of her life, Leander "Cush," in high school and later married. With that union came of four children, whom she loved immensely!
A devoted follower of her faith, Gloria read the Bible daily and inspired those around her with her unwavering spirit and joy. Her creative talents shone brightly through her business, Glo's Fashion, where she helped countless individuals find the perfect styles for special occasions. Additionally, she had a talent for interior decorating and had a creative mind to make anything fabulous. Known for her caring nature, she found joy in nurturing others, particularly children, and her love for shopping often resulted in delightful surprises for her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leander "Cush" Williams, Sr.; children, Leander Williams Jr. (Tricia), Shawn Williams, and Deidre Williams; siblings, Murphy Simon, Jr. (Marie), Leroy Simon, and Regina Simon; grandchildren, Kip Jacob (Hunny), Brandon Jacob, Bianca Jacob, Sierra Derouselle, Dion Williams, Travis Williams, and Paige Williams; great grandchildren, Milani Jacob, Kataleya Jacob, Lance Gardner, Jr., Mason Williams, Kently James, Vaeda Derousselle, Gianna Mallery, and Everest Shorten; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Murphy Simon, Sr. and Edna Louviere Simon; son, Troy Williams; sister-in-law, Joyce Simon; and brother-in-law, Warren Brown.
Pallbearers will be Ozer Williams, Gilbert Williams, Reginald Ebow, Trent Mitchell, Chris Lavergne, and Harold Broussard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Murphy Simon, Jr., Leroy Simon, Frank Wiltz, and Farrell Narcisse.
In honoring Glory's memory, her family expresses their gratitude for the love and support received from the community, her church family at House of Love, and many dear friends throughout her life. Rather than mourning, let us celebrate the beautiful and vibrant life she lived, the light she brought into our lives, and the love that will always endure. She will be deeply missed by all!
