Gordon Raphael Mitchell

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Gordon R. Mitchell , 77, who passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Lafayette Physical Rehab Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 9:30 am on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Friday. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Gordon was a loving father, grandfather, and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his brother, Norman (Serhania) Mitchell; sisters, Sidney Mae Sam, Geneva (Walter) Foote and Margaret (Willie) Lewis; daughters, Tiffieny Mitchell and Kia Jones; and grandchildren, Koeshia Robertson and Jodrick Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. Mitchell; son, Jonathan Mitchell; parents, Sidney Mitchell, Jr. and Geneva Batiste Mitchell; paternal grandparents, Sidney and Violet Francis Mitchell; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Philomen Batiste. Pallbearers will be William Wiltz, Wilbert Rhine, Sterling Francis, Jr., Elbert Ray Guilliame, Donald Batiste, and Willie Lee.
