Grace Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Grace D. Romero, 91, who died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero was born on January 10, 1921 to Whitney Joseph Delcambre and Lily Leleux Delcambre. She loved tennis, flowers, reading, traveling, and theater. Survivors include her sons, Whitney S. Romero of Lafayette, Robert N. Romero and wife Rosanne of Houston, Texas, Guy Romero and wife Joni of Sugar Land, Texas, Tony Romero and wife Assunta of New Iberia; daughters, Terry R. McGuckin of New Orleans, Babette Romero Schmitz of Midlothian, Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel James Romero, Jr., and an infant daughter, Mary.
