St. Martinville - A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Duchamp Opera House in St. Martinville, 200 S. Main St., St. Martinville, LA 70582, for Grady Dugas, 94, who passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at his residence.
Born in Parks, Louisiana, Grady's life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and dedication to his family. Grady was a dedicated farmer who poured his heart and soul into providing for his loved ones.
Throughout his lifetime, Grady toiled endless hours in the fields, embodying the true spirit of a diligent farmer. His commitment extended beyond his farm as he served the community as a respected member of the St. Martin Parish Police Jury, Farm Bureau, Parks Volunteer Fire Department, and as a proud board member of the St. John Sugar Mill Co-op. His affiliation with the Woodmen of the World showcased his self-denying nature and his desire to make a positive impact wherever he went.
Described as kind and generous by all who knew him, Grady's warm heart touched many lives. His love for mud truck racing and horse track racing brought him joy and allowed him moments of exhilaration amid his hardworking days.
Among all his achievements and roles in various organizations, Grady held his family closest to his heart. He cherished them dearly and took immense pride in guiding and shaping their lives with love and wisdom.
He is survived by his sons, Greg (Sandra) Dugas, Kim Dugas, Matt Dugas, and Scott Dugas; daughter, Kathy Dugas; grandchildren, Jamie Bulliard, Dylan Dugas, Taylor Munn, and Jordan Monfort; and his great grandchildren, Gabriel Bulliard, Maison Bulliard, and Camden Munn.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maureen Hulin Dugas; parents, John and Mathilda Judice Dugas; brothers, Wesley, Randall, Oldon, Jeff, and Andre Dugas; and his sisters, Ester Calais, Elsie Roy, Rita Story, and Maydell Sanders.
