Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Guilman Cormier, 77, who passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at his residence.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Paul LaFleur will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Cormier honorably served his country in the Louisiana National Guard for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Gardemal Cormier, of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Sandra Cormier Castille, of Breaux Bridge; his son, Gil Paul Cormier and his wife, Debbie, of St. Martinville; a brother, Anatole Pete Cormier, Jr. and his wife, Claudia, of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Jason, Brian, Lynzie, and Kent Cormier, and Sanders Castille; and four great grandchildren, Haden and Kadee Cormier, Malayne Doucet, and Corbin Cormier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anatole Cormier, Sr. and Lita Castille Cormier; two sisters, Janel Dore and her husband, Alvin, and Clotilde "Connie" Miguez and her husband, Minos; and his son-in-law, Rocky Castille.
He was a member of Woodmen of the World, Mobeuf Hunting Club, and Food for Seniors. ;In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and was an avid shrimper. ;He liked to entertain his friends at gatherings and always made time to spend with his family and friends. ;He was married to the love of his life, Doris, for 58 years. ;Mr. Guilman will always be remembered as a man who put his family first. ;
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Jason Cormier, Brian Cormier, Kent Cormier, Sanders Castille, Rodney Dore, and Bill Gardemal.
Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Cormier, Gil Cormier, Elwood Hollier, Allen Dore, Wilton Cormier, Frances (Papout) Castille, Felix (Peco) Castille, and Stephen Cormier.
Gift Bearers will be Debbie and Katina Cormier and his four great grandchildren.
Readers will be Lynzie and Nicole Cormier.
