H. Earl Jackson

BreauxBridge - Earl Jackson, much beloved husband of Lori Jackson, went to be with the Lord with his family around him on August 8th, 2012. He was a man of many talents and interests, whose pursuits ranged from spiritual to scientific. He served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret during the Vietnam conflict, and was an instructor at the Jungle Warfare School in the Panama Canal Zone. While homesteading in Vermont, he was elected to be part of the first Governor's Council for Environmental Protection and was the Executive Director for the March of Dimes for the state of Vermont. He later became an ordained minister, and remained a faithful witness and follower of God for his entire life. He moved his family to Louisiana in 1984 where he established his company H. Earl Jackson and Associates and worked for over two decades as an environmental engineer who served as a consultant for several major oil companies. He was a long time member of the Lafayette Art Association and a very talented amateur photographer whose work has won many awards. He planned to pursue a career in photography when and if he ever actually retired. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lori Kohl Jackson of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Kristian Jackson of Breaux Bridge, and Nathan Jackson and wife, Amy, of Scott; one daughter, Lisa Carlson and husband, Gregory, of Breaux Bridge; his brother, John Jackson and his wife, Sandra, of Connecticut; two sisters, Sandra Blake and Dawne Jackson, both of Connecticut; and six grandchildren, Zachary Healy, Jessica Carlson, Victoria Carlson, Mara Meaux, Ethan Jackson, and Rory Jackson. He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Jackson Sr.; his mother, Bettie Nelson Jackson; his son, Christopher Jackson; and his step mother, Nancy Jackson. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 4 pm until 9 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 (337.332.2199).
