Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Harold J. Menard, Sr., 82, who died Sunday, January 27, 2013, in Coteau. Interment will follow in the church mausoleum. Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM. Born on December 5, 1930 in Youngsville, Mr. Menard worked in the oilfield for many years. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed training horses and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Bernice Romero Menard of Coteau; sons, Harold Menard, Jr., of New Iberia, Jerome Menard of Coteau; daughters, Vicki M. LeBlanc and husband Harry of Coteau, Melissa M. Hudson and husband David of Coteau, Amanda M. Migues and husband Ron of New Iberia, Azilda M. Broussard and husband Toby of Loreauville, Sylvia Gary and husband Narry of New Iberia, Pam Abshire of New Iberia, Ronda R. Viator and husband Dwayne of New Iberia, Leslie R. Stevens and husband Craig of New Iberia; brothers, Francis Menard and wife Barbara of New Iberia, Eugene Menard and wife Mary Jane of Coteau, Whitney Menard and wife Nell of New Iberia; sisters, Mazel M. Meyers of Coteau, Lorraine Girouard and husband Bert of New Iberia, Jerry Jones and husband Boyd of Coteau; 27 grandchildren, Harry, Nicole, Stephanie, Vincent, Andree, Phillip, Ryan, Dustin, Kate, Cody, Derrick, Destiny, Desiree, MaKayla, Kaleb, Kyle, Carolyn, Carroll, Aspize, Savannah, Jimmy, Chad, Francis, Adrienne, Kelley, Kindelyn, and Jace; 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Azilda Girouard Menard; brothers, Lennis Menard, Lloyd Menard, Syprine Menard, Ovey Menard; sisters, Theresa M. Myers, Evelyn M. Theriot; grandsons, David Hudson, Joey LeBlanc; granddaughter, Laura Lee Broussard; stepson, Marty Abshire; granddaughters husband, Roy Segura, Jr. Pallbearers will be Harry LeBlanc, Jr., Francis Menard, Jerome Menard, Vincent Hudson, Ryan Bonin, and Cody Menard.
