Harris John Thibodeaux, Sr.

Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Harris John Thibodeaux, Sr., 89, who passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his residence surrounded by loving family. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday.

A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 pm on Thursday.

Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Memorial Service.

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.

A resident of Breaux Bridge, he was a former usher for St. Bernard Church and served 20 years in the National Guard Alpha Company 2-156 as a Platoon Sergeant. His past employment was millwork/carpentry and 13 years in maintenance at LGMC, retired. His love of work was revealed in his craftsmanship of furniture, cabinets, and small houses. He took pride in maintaining his home, yard, and providing for his family and others.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sylvia Castille Thibodeaux; two sons, John Thibodeaux Jr. (Dottie) and Bryan Thibodeaux; two daughters, Lydia T. Schetele (Bryan) and Maria T. Guidry; son-in-law, Keith Zerangue; grandchildren, Dominic Thibodeaux, Lori Nickens, Benjamin Zerangue, Steven Zerangue (Lindsey), Joshua O'Keefe; and his great grandchildren, Rayann, Katlyn, and Lonnie Nickens and Logan Zerangue.

He was preceded in death by his father, H.I. and Inez Boudreaux Thibodeaux; sisters, Rita T. Wentz and Shirley Cangelosi; brother, Gary Thibodeaux; son, Gregory P. Thibodeaux; daughter, Peggy T. Zerangue; and a great grandchild, Steven R. Nickens, Jr.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Chastant, II, Dr. Jason Breaux, and staff of LGMC, along with Hospice of Acadiana for their wonderful care of our loved one.
