New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Harry Jackson, Sr., 90, who passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with military honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Deacon Theo Landry will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:30 am until 11:30 am at Pellerin Funeral Home.
Mr. Jackson was born on November 28, 1926 to the late Anisette and Paula Menard Jackson, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from United Gas after 25 years of service, and then worked many years for Jay's Communication and Lafayette Towers. Mr. Jackson enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He was a member of the Louisiana Bowlers Hall of Fame, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Browning and companion David Lapeyrouse of New Iberia, Sherry Himel and husband Dr.Tim Himel of Kingsport, TN, Pat Moore and husband George of Martinez, CA; sons, Johnny Jackson and wife Ouida of New Iberia, Bill Jackson and wife Sandy of Spring, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Oubre Jackson, a sister, Nettie Jackson Dore, and a nephew, Dalton Dore.
