St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in Saint Martinville, for Harry James Labb, Jr., 88, who passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue at 8:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the funeral service. Reading the scriptures for the service will be Matthew Labb and Hassie Labb Breaux. Gift bearers will be milie Labb, Julien Borel and Koen Blank. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in Saint Martinville. Harry loved the outdoors. His many interests included fishing and hunting with lifelong friends. He and June were active gardeners, cooking and 'putting up' home grown vegetables and figs. Many happy summers were spent boating on Bayou Teche. Later in life, well into his 70s, Harry enjoyed cycling, running and roller blading. A music lover, he was proficient on the acoustic guitar. His children acknowledge that one of his greatest gifts was his sharp sense of humor, which he held until the very end, and will be carried on by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sons, Guy (Althea) Labb of Lafayette and Matthew (Kristin) Labb of New Iberia, his daughters, Chere Labb Doiron of Memphis, TN, and Hassie Labb (Chad) Breaux of New Iberia, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, June Landreneau Labb, his father, Harry James Labb Sr., his mother, Celine Gary Labb, his son, Gerard Labb, his brothers, Robert G. Labb and Ronald M. Labb, his grandson, Jacob Breaux. Pallbearers will be Pierre Doiron, Andr Doiron, Dustin Fuselier, Ben Labb, Baron Breaux and Greg Ducote. The family wishes to thank all caretakers that provided faithful, compassion and loving care during his illness. Donations may be made to St. Martin de Tours Pew Restoration Fund in memory of Harry and June Labb. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, 112 New Market St., Saint Martinville, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
