St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Harvey Paul Pelafigue, 59, who passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007 at his residence in St. Martinville. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Mr. Pelafigue honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. ?He was noted for his heroism during his military service, having received three Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star. ?He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and made a Cursillo, as well as, co-sponsored his son, Joshua. ?He and his wife also served as Eucharistic Ministers. Harvey loved quite moments reading, camping, dancing, having a good time with his friends, and spending time with his daughter, Monique, listening to the music of Styx. His Thursday night casino outings with Sue and Nell added a special joy to his life. ?He treasured the times that he spent with his grandchildren and those times cutting-up with his sons and workers. ?His afternoon rides will always reflect his favorite quote, to his loving wife of 39 years, ""I will be with you in the sunset everyday."" Survivors include his wife, Connie Melancon Pelafigue, of St. Martinville; two sons, Jason Pelafigue and his wife, Abby, of St. Martinville, and Joshua Pelafigue, of Coteau Holmes; one daughter, Monique P. Verret, of St. Martinville; his mother, Renella ""Nell"" LeBlanc Pelafigue, of Coteau Holmes; two sisters, Denis P. Mestayer, of New Iberia, and Arlene P. Theriot, of Loreauville; and four grandchildren, Shelby Pelafigue, Luke Verret, Morgan Verret, and Myles Verret. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Pelafigue; and two grandchildren, Jesse and Jordan Verret. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Whitney Bernard, Pierre ""Tippy"" Trahan, Capt. George ""Butch"" McHugh, Joshua Pelafigue, Jason Pelafigue, and Vernon Verret. Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Verret. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
