Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Hazel F. Calais, 94, who passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm on Thursday.
A Rosary will be prayed by the Catholic Daughters at 10:30 am.
Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by Alyson Finch and Paige Broussard. Gift Bearers will be Sophia and Christian Finch and Paige and Parker Broussard.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Calais Kennedy and husband Jim of The Woodlands, TX and Sherry Calais McLeod and husband Max of Breaux Bridge; her son, Ricky J. Calais and wife Debbie of Breaux Bridge; five grandchildren, Aly, Jonathan, Claire, Ross and Kyle; five great grandchildren, Paige, Sophia, Carter, Christian, and Parker; and her sisters, Euline F. Dupuis of Breaux Bridge, Anna F. Angelle of Breaux Bridge, Evelyna F. Guidry of Port Allen, and Edna Calais of Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hector and Rose Dore Frederick; her beloved husband of 59 years, René J. Calais; her sisters, Vivian F. LeBlanc and Rose F. LeBlanc; and her brothers, Joseph Frederick and Lee A. Frederick.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan McLeod, Jeremy Finch, Carter Broussard, Colby Broussard, Ross Calais, and Kyle Calais.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ben Degatur, St. Agnes Nursing Home staff and residents, and to Hospice of Acadiana, for their wonderful care and attention given to Hazel during her time of need. We are forever grateful to you all.
