Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 29, 2008, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Hazel Degeyter, 76, who passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at her residence in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Reverend Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will conduct the services. Scripture reading will be read by Sally Comb. Gift Bearers will be Billie Robin and Brittney Guidry. Altar server will be Mark Melancon. Hazel was one who continually visited the chapel of adoration and who loved her church. She was known for taking care of her grandchildren and children while enjoying the family gatherings on Sunday. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, brother and sister. Survivors include her sons, Ricky Degeyter and his wife, Barbara of Youngsville and Danny Degeyter; her daughters, Vicki Garcia and her husband, Bill of Breaux Bridge, M. Irene LeBlanc of Breaux Bridge and Donna Hamm and her husband, Curtis of Texas; her brother, Pete Melancon and his wife, Thelma ;of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Mary Melancon of Breaux Bridge; her grandchildren; Brittney Guidry, Blasien LeBlanc, Ryder Degeyter, Kristina Garza, Chelsie Degeyter, Billie Robin, Blaine Garcia and Hutch Cormier; her great-grandchildren, Lola Guidry, Andon Robin, Kara Garza, Cameron Degeyter, Dylan Degeyter and Gabriel Degeyter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Louise Melancon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008 and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Bill Garcia, Blaine Garcia, Blasien LeBlanc, Ricky Degeyter, Shane Guidry, Hutch Cormier, Ryder Degeyter and Randy LeBlanc. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
