Breaux Bridge- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Hazel C. Journet, 96, who passed away on February 8, 2024 at her home in Grand Coteau.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM on Saturday.
Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Wilton Journet and Curtis Davis. Gift bearers will be Camryn Stevenson and Akira Stevenson.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Hazel was born on November 8, 1927, in Arnaudville. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devout Catholic and was strong in her faith. Hazel enjoyed being dolled up for every occasion. Her hair and make-up was always done perfectly. She was a special person to everyone she met. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed visiting and cooking for them. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loved ones.
She is survived by her only son, Donald Journet (Shayla Jim); adoptive daughter, Lee Brown (John); sister, Agnes Lewis; grandchildren, Clayton Lewis, Dinnia Lewis (Mark Lawrence), Christopher Journet (Taylor Newman) and, Donna Journet; great-grandchildren, Chancellor Journet, Tanesha Carron, Jaylen Lawrence, Jaevien Lawrence, Kaiden Journet, and Ares Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Emilly Calais Carron; siblings, Nina Baker, Mildred Taylor, Carlton Carron, Arthur Calais and Clarence Carter.
Pallbearers will be Jaylen Lawrence, Jaevien Lawrence, Christopher Journet, Winslow Journet, Wilton Journet Jr., and Mark Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Camryn Stevenson, Clayton Lewis, Caleb Smith, Windell Journet and Peyton Journet.
