St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Hazel Davis Porter, 93, who passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am. Rev. Augustinus Seran SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Gwendolyn Flugence James and Frederick Flugence, Sr. Gift bearers will be Frederick Flugence, Jr., Angel James, Darius Verette and Dustin James. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville. Hazel was a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville. She is survived by her daughter, Nola P. Flugence of St. Martinville; 10 grandchildren, Lynda Porter, Jeannette Porter Martin, Camula Verette, Lorie Verette, Nelson Flugence, Max Flugence, Alex Flugence, Byron V. Porter, Frederick Flugence, Gwendolyn James; and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, John Davis, her mother, Amy Ball Davis, her husband, Russell Joseph Porter, her son, Nolton Porter, her daughter, Mary Anne P. Verette; 17 brothers and sisters and one grandson. Pallbearers will be Nelson Flugence, Alex Flugence, Sr. , Max Flugence, Frederick Flugence, Sr. Byron Porter and Alfred Bazile. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry James, Jr., William James, Darius Verette, Michael James, Timothy James, Dustin James, William James and Alex Flugence, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
