Youngsville - A memorial gathering of family and friends will be Monday, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Hazel Romero, 83, who passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 in Youngsville.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Monday.
A native and lifelong area resident, Mrs. Romero was born on November 7, 1931, to Ulysse and Norma Romero, and was the owner of the R&M Boiling Point Restaurant on Highway 90. Her hobbies included baking, and gambling, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Alex Romero, Sr. of Youngsville; children, Alex Romero, Jr. and companion Shondel Galley of New Iberia, Donovan Romero and wife Valeria of Lafayette, and Rocksand "Roxie" Maturin and husband Forrest of New Iberia; brother, Menson Romero and wife Marie of New Iberia; grandchildren, Alex Romero, III, Monica Dribinski, Hope Hebert, Heather McGrew, Mackenzie Romero, and Evan Romero; 8 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; special friends, Jaylene & Eric Grow of New Iberia; and her caregiver, Pauline DeRouen of New Iberia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Romero; and two granddaughters, Cassie Kay Maturin, and Kristy Lynn Romero.
