Helen Guillory Destouet

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Helen Guillory Destouet, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church in New Iberia, LA with Reverend Donald Bernard to serve as the Celebrant.  Interment will follow at St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery in Mallet, Louisiana conducted by Reverend Stanley Jawa, SVD. 

Visitation will be on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, Louisiana.  The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am.

A native of Church Point, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of New Iberia. Mrs. Destouet departed peacefully from this world in the comfort of her own home at age 64.  

Helen was a devoted and loving wife and mother and a faithful member of St. Edward Catholic Church often volunteering her services.

She is survived by her devoted and caring husband of forty-one years, Steven Destouet and her loving and kind-hearted son, Matthew Destouet (Hillary) of Austin, Tx.   Helen will also be fondly remembered by her siblings:  John Raphael Guillory (Sandra) of New Orleans, LA, Mary Reed of Opelousas, LA, Gracie Guillory of Church Point, LA, Barbara Citizen of Carencro, LA, Regius Guillory of Beaumont, TX; her in-laws, Dr. Judy Destouet, Dr. Katy Salas, Connie Destouet, Albert Destouet, Jr., Lenora Jagneaux and Kathy Piatt and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Sylvania Papillion Guillory, her sister, Lula Guillory; brother-in-laws, Walter Reed, Jr., Dr. Carroll Guillory, and Lionel Citizen; her father-in- law Albert Destouet, Sr. and mother-in-law Mary Destouet.

Pallbearers will be Regius Guillory, Ted Broussard, Vincent Broussard, Irin Tauriac, Dr. Kevin Guillory, and Jamie Guillory. 

The Destouet family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Helen’s caregiver, Terri Francis.
