Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., on Monday, December 21, 2009, at St. John Francis Regis Roman Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Helen Laura Gil Hardy, 92, who passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Opelousas General Medical Center.
Entombment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Mausoleum, in Arnaudville.
Father Gary Schexnayder will officate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Dr. Dwight J. Hardy and Lisa A. Kidder. Gift Bearers will be Craig "Matthew" Kidder, Jr. and Betty R. Jennings.
Ms. Helen, also known to many as "Mrs. Blue," was a native of Arnaudville. She loved working alongside her husband, "Blue," in the wholesale/retail seafood business for over 40 years. She was very talented and her hobbies included painting ceramics, gardening, and growing beautiful flowers.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila H. Kidder and her husband, James, and Patti H. Malagarie and her husband, Louis, Jr., all of Arnaudville; her son, Dr. Dwight J. Hardy, of Rochester, NY; three grandchildren, Craig M. Kidder, Sr., of Arnaudville, Lisa A. Kidder, of Austin, TX, and Betty Malagarie Theriot, of St. Martinville; three great grandchildren, Craig "Matthew" Kidder, Jr., Macie Theriot, and Thomas Theriot; one niece, Betty R. Jennings and her husband, Frank, of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine "Blue" Hardy; her son, Dean Anthony Hardy; her parents, Jules and Laura Clay Gil, of Arnaudville; one sister, Ruby G. Broussard, of Arnaudville; and her brother, Henry G. Gil, of Port Arthur, TX.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Pallbearers will be Dwight J. Hardy, James J. Kidder, Louis F. Malagarie, Jr., Craig M. Kidder, Sr., Frank Jennings, and Donald Gil.
